A Viral Challenge for All Of Us

It is the health crisis many have anticipated..and some have feared.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is real.

Let’s assess what we’ve seen to this point: cruise ships held out at sea and refused docking privileges, trains and subways subject to more intense cleaning (which quite frankly should have already been happening), shuttered sports arenas and airplane precautions..like I saw recently on a flight with more than one person using the surgical mask as a barrier to protect their health.

Coronavirus has changed the game..and the way we live for the foreseeable future. I cannot be critical of people for making such changes. However I do want to caution against hysteria. I’ve covered hurricanes where..suddenly..bread and milk disappear from store shelves. Over that last little while..pizza aisles at Whole Foods…

…and hand sanitizer aisles at Walgreens have been laid bare leading to new rules.

Look…I get it. No one wants to get sick. However, don’t horde sanitizer from the rest of us, hop in a cab or on a bus and sit next to someone who’s already sick and get sick yourself. Then your massive haul does you no good. Help yourself..but help us too.

If you haven’t already..I implore you to head to the Internet and pull up the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website to find out all you need about Coronavirus and what you can do to not contract or spread it. It is there you can find out where in the U.S. the disease has been diagnosed, what’s being done at the medical level and all those good tips like washing hands for 20 seconds, avoiding crowds, etc.

Also..check on your elders and those with underlying conditions. Those are the most susceptible groups right now.

I have faith in our scientific and medical communities. They will get hold of this. What we cannot do is fuel hysteria. I’ve heard so many health officials say “we’re in this together”. So true. If we protect ourselves..we protect each other.

That’s how it’s supposed to work.
