There’s Pumpkin…Then There’s “Punk’in”

Right off the top…break’s over!

I’ll admit it. I got a bit burned on the pandemic-related topics so I took a short (eight-month) hiatus. It’s time to dust off the ol’ keyboard. We’ll still hit some of the seriousness because — let’s face it — COVID times continue. There are other things to observe as well.

The following is an example of such irreverence. So, here we go…again.

I am a fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte (gotta be with almond milk though). It has become my sign — along with college football — that Fall is finally here. There are other products with the big orange gourd in mind that can satisfy the craving. Pepperidge Farm Pumpkin Cheesecake cookies and Talenti Pumpkin Pie gelato come immediately to mind. Give them a try if you haven’t already.

Some, however, take the bit just a little too far. Remember the old MTV show Punk’d? I believe that’s what they were trying to do with some of the these offerings.

And yes…these are REAL products.

I’ve never quite understood the beer-maker seltzer thing. If i want beer, I’ll get beer. If I want sparkling water, I’ll get that. However…I’m not sure this is something I want to try. It would have the potential to turn me against everything pumpkin for a long while. Pass or play? Pass.

It’s not even real pumpkin soup. It’s ‘Just-add-hot-water’ pumpkin soup. No thank you.

Okay…even if I did want this. IT’S TOO EARLY! Christmas is still three months away.

Just no. Although I would expect to see this at some very adventurous county fair.

I’ll take the milk in my pumpkin spice-flavored coffee (or even hot chocolate). I draw the line at cereal. Like the seltzer above…it might make me wash my hands of the entire thing. Where’s my hand sanitizer?

If you’ve seen an unusual product in the pumpkin spice realm…mention it in the comments. I’d love to hear about it.
