The Ups and Downs of Parking

Parking used to be so simple.

Find a spot on the street and put your parallel parking prowess into practice.

Moving up to the northeast changed that entirely.

Parking is a different animal up here..and follows what we’ve come to know as the ‘building principle’ in these parts:  it’s not outward..but UPWARD.

The above picture I took shows exactly what I’m talking about.   All around the area are these lifted lots where cars are stacked one over the other.  Heaven forbid if you happen to be on the top of the heap and you get an emergency call to be somewhere.

I guess it’s mass transit for you.

Even in area lots..there seems to be no rhyme or reason for who parks where.  Case in point:

If you’re the SUV with the moon roof on the back row (four cars in from the right)..and you have to leave NOW..how does that work?

I’m glad I don’t drive up here…because parking means making sure you’re going to be there ALL DAY…

..and maybe longer.
